HIV Youth Project

As many of you know, I have started the HIV Youth Project as apersonal endeavor born of an equally personal struggle. Despite manymisgivings and obstacles, the Project has moved forward, reaching anestimated 2,500+ individuals in 878 different cities in 79 countriesaround the world since our initial launch in October 2007. But there isstill so much more work to be done. The Project has been personallyfunded hitherto, but in order to provide a broader, more inclusive,basis of support, we will need an infusion of capital.

Our goals

• Cover immediate and long-term overhead site maintenance costs
• To further invest in, publicize and expand the Project
• Endow a scholarship fund for HIV/AIDS youth and/or activists
  
• Achieve official 501(c)1 tax-exempt status

Objectives
The Project aims to create, connect and foster a sense of community forHIV-positive youth, by youth. Although our attention is focused onqueer-identified communities of color, we welcome all marginalizedgroups, including but not limited to women and the differently abled.Our primary goals are to provide a welcoming, safe and supportivesocial space to help newly-diagnosed youth come to terms with theirstatus by capitalizing on the Internetâ??s unique dynamic ofsemi-anonymous free .
